The Jamaica Administrative Athletics Association (JAAA) during the last 10 years has created the All-Comers Meet for athletes to prepare mainly for National Trials.
However, the All-Comers Meet is yet to deliver all its objectives.
Too often athletes are heard complaining about long delays, not only at the marshalling area, but also at trackside.
For me, I am very disappointed with the All-Comers Meet because it is not spectators and media friendly.
Take Saturday for example, I was doing LIVE updates from the meet held at the National Stadium, but no information in terms of a start-list was provided and the spectators for most part were clueless.
The spectators most of whom stayed back after the JTA Sagicor Championships were heard complaining about the lack of information from the stadium announcer.
I tried unsuccessfully to get the start-list. This is a shame as it shows how unprofessional our organizers, administrators and officials are.
I am urging the JAAA to move swiftly in addressing those issues at track meets such as the All-Comers Meet.
Too many times our athletes, the most important stakeholders — have gone with lack of spectators’ support or quality media coverage.
All this because of POOR administrators and officials.
