KINGSTON – TrackAlerts have been reliably informed that star hurdler Dejour Russell has withdrawn from the Jamaica World U20 teams because of injury.

Russell, who was recently named in the Jamaica team for the championships in Tampere, Finland, July 10-15, finished fourth at the 2016 World Junior Championships.

The 18-year-old Calabar High hurdler was a member of the Jamaica senior team at the 2018 Commonwealth Game and owns a personal best of 13.10 seconds over the 99cm height.

He finished third to overseas-based Damion Thomas and Calabar High schoolmate Orlando Bennett at the National Junior Championships.

It had been indicated then that he was feeling some discomfort, which was visual, especially in the middle part of the race when he struggled to keep up with Thomas and Bennett.
