Jamaican ladies opened their account for NCAA National placements at the East Preliminary in Jacksonville, Florida, on Thursday (27 May).
Twelve (12) from the east will join the same amount from the west at Nationals in the sprints, while the other events will take 12 overall.
Meanwhile, Tonea Marshall of LSU was in blistering form, running 12.49 seconds to lead the qualifiers in the women’s 100m hurdles.
Jamaican Trishauna Hemmings, representing Clemson, also qualified with 13.10.
In the women’s 100m, Kiara Grant, 11.38, Yanique Dayle, 11.39 and Shiann Hyde, 11.48 are the Jamaicans into the next round.
Joella Lloyd of Antigua and Barbuda also qualified with 11.50.
Dayle, 23.45 and Lloyd, 23.47, are also in the next round of the women’s 200m.
Andrenette Knight, 55.90, leads the 400m hurdles qualifiers into the next round. Jamaican Nicolee Foster, 58.79, also advanced to the quarterfinals.
