UTech’s Keino Hewitt was the fastest men’s 100m qualifier from Thursday morning’s (22 June) opening session of the 2017 Jamaica Track and Field Championships at the National Stadium.
Hewitt topped heat 1 of the preliminary round in 10.32 seconds. Also progressingto the next round is GC Foster College’s Hujaye Cornwall, who ran 10.39secs for second place.
Brandon Tomlinson, also of GC Foster College, was the lone qualifier from heat 2 with 10.56secs.
Xandre Blake of UWI, 10.54secs, and UTech’s Nimroy Turgott, 10.78secs, were the qualifiers from heat 3 while Keneil Lee of Akan, 10.52 and Earl Lee of Q-Fit Performance, 10.78secs, advanced from heat 4.
The seven qualifiers from the morning session will meet Yohan Blake, Asafa Powell and company in the men’s 100m heats later this evening.
