Baton Rouge, La. – Amber Hart registered the ninth-best shot put in school history, and the rest of the LSU track and field team captured 11 event titles on Friday night to highlight the LSU Twilight at Carl Maddox Fieldhouse.
Hart took bronze in the shot put with her career-best heave of 48’ 1.25” (14.66 meters). It was her fourth personal best of the season and it moved her into the No. 9 spot on the LSU list. Jake Norris registered a season-best of 70’ 8” (21.54 meters) to win the men’s weight throw with the 16th best toss in the NCAA this season.
The distance crew swept titles in the 600 meters and 800 meters. Hannah Carroll won the women’s 600m run with a personal best of 1:35.39, and TJ Bleichner won the men’s contest with a readout of 1:21.71. In the 800 meters, Cori Mitchell was victorious with a career-best of 2:22.00, and Luke Hebert captured the men’s title with a time of 1:59.23. Sara Funderburk went sub-five minutes in the mile for the first time in her LSU career with a personal best of 4:58.39 to claim the event title in that race. Amber Desselle closed out the action for LSU on the night with a win in the 3,000m run (10:41.16).
The jumps group claimed three titles in the evening. Camille Hensarling (women’s long jump), Kyndal McKnight (women’s triple jump), and Ronnie Rounds (men’s triple jump) were the event winners. Hensarling registered a mark of 18’ 10.75” (5.76 meters) to claim her crown in the long jump, and teammate Serena Bolden finished second with a bound of 18’ 9” (5.71 meters). McKnight and Rounds claimed their first event titles of the season; McKnight went 41’ 8.50” (12.71 meters) in the triple jump, and Rounds registered a mark of 45’ 6.50” (13.88 meters) to win the men’s side. Rounds also captured third in the high jump with a clearance of 6’ 6.75” (2.00 meters). Jace Attuso finished second overall and as the top collegian in the men’s long jump with a personal-best leap of 24’ 5.75” (7.46 meters). Lisa Gunnarsson was also the top collegiate finisher in the women’s pole vault with a clearance of 13’ 11.25” (4.25 meters).
Terrance Laird led LSU to a one-two-four finish in the 60m dash. Laird won the event with a time of 6.71; Akanni Hislop placed third (6.75) and Eric Edwards Jr. (6.76) took fourth. In the women’s 60 meter finals, Symone Mason was LSU’s top finisher in the event with a time of 7.342 to place fourth, and Tonea Marshall finished fifth with a time of 7.343.
In the 60m hurdles, Milan Young (8.21) and Brittley Humphrey (8.32) took the top two collegiate spots behind former Tiger Lolo Jones, who won with a time of 8.17. Arthur Price collected silver in the finals of the men’s 60m hurdles with a time of 7.88.
