Chrisann Gordon warmed up for the World Indoor Championships with a personal best effort on the weekend.
Gordon, in the women’s 400m final of the NCAA Division 1 Indoor Track and Field Championships in Birmingham, ran 51.69 for third place.
The 21-year-old, who was last week named in Jamaica’s World Indoors team for the March 17-20 Championships in Portland, Oregon, USA, said she is “very happy” for the personal best.
Courtney Okolo, Gordon's teammate at University of Texas, won the event final in 50.69 ahead of Taylor Ellis-Watson Of Arkansas 51.51.
“This season is going well so far I can't complain,” Gordon, in her first year at the D1 level, said while adding “I’m pretty satisfied with my time.”
Gordon will run only the 4x400m at World Indoor Champs.
She explained the reason for the decision. “I am going to World Indoors to participate only in the relay because I don't want to run a lot of indoor races. It's a long season and I want to make sure I peak the right time,” the former Holmwood and Jamaica Junior star told TrackAlerts.com in an interview.
