GC Foster defended both male and female titles on Saturday’s (7 April) final day of the NCB Intercollegiate Track and Field Championships at the National Stadium.

The Spanish Town-based institution tallied 226 to take the male section and 200 points to stamp their class on the women’s side. UTech with 174 and 178 were second in both male and female sections respectively.

UWI, 130, Mico, 80 and Montego Bay Community College, 24 rounded off the top five female teams while UWI, 135.5, Knox Community College, 48 and Mico 42.5 were the next best male teams.

GC Foster College’s pair Romario Williams, 20.91secs and Ashley Williams, 24.11secs won the men’s and women’s 200m respectively.

Derrian Hill of UTech, 53.01 beat Dawnalee Loney of Mico, 53.73 in the women’s 400m while the men’s event went to Demar Murray of GC Foster College in 46.00.

UTech’s pair of Rohan Cole, 14.08 and Shimayra Williams, 13.73 were the respective men’s 110m hurdles and women’s 100m hurdles winners.

Daniel Glave of GC Foster set a new record of 3:56.76 in the men’s 1500m, beating his own mark of 3:58.33, set in 2017.

Tissanna Hickling of GC Foster won the women’s triple jump with 12.82m to add to her 100m success on day one.

Ojamu Graham of UTech 7.62m won the men’s long jump while his teammate Latifah Smith took the women’s shot put with 14.02m

Glenford Watson of GC Foster topped the men’s discus with 55.42m.
In the relays, UTech won four of the six finals.

UTech won the women’s 800m sprint medley in 1:41.70, women’s 4x100m in 44.58, men’s 4x100m in 39.68, and women’s 4x400m in 3:39.85.

GC Foster College won the other two relays, the men’s 1600m sprint medley in a new record 3:18.88 and men’s 4x400m in 3:07.77
