The G.C. Foster Classic, which in the past has seen the likes of Usain Bolt, Yohan Blake and Asafa Powell, has cancelled its 2014 edition. The meet was scheduled for March 1, 2014.

Ventley Brown, athletics director at G.C. Foster College, confirmed “It's off because of the state of the track.” The GC Foster Track, which hosted Champs in 2002, has been in desperate need for repair for many years now.

The G.C. Foster Classic is the third meet for the 2014 season that has had to be cancelled. The Central Hurdles and Relays was cancelled because of the poor state of the GC Foster Track while the Corporate Development Meet, which was scheduled for the National Stadium, was scratched because of lack of funds.

On the cancelation of the meet, Brown said: “it’s a more blow to the Corporate Area schools because it's the third meet to be cancelled this year; it is also a blow for those athletes who didn't get to qualify.”

Information reaching Trackalerts.Com is that GC Foster College will be getting a new track later this year, in time for the 2015 Track & Field Season.
