Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce will return to face Elaine Thompson-Herah in the women’s 100m at the Weltklasse Zurich Diamond League on 9 September.

Fraser-Pryce decided to rest after her impressive victory of 10.60 (PB) over Elaine Thompson-Herah 10.64 in Lausanne a week ago. Thompson-Herah, however, is the fastest woman this year with 10.54

Thompson-Herah beat Fraser-Pryce for Olympic Games glory and again at the Prefontaine Classic.

The Jamaican pair will face Marie-Josee Ta Lou, Darryl Neita and World 200m champion Dina Asher-Smith in Zurich.

6 complete Olympic podium finishers in Tokyo

The fastest woman in the world also leads the 100 m field at Weltklasse Zürich. With her, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce (JAM), Marie-Josée Ta Lou (CIV) and the Swiss figureheads Ajla Del Ponte (5th) and Mujinga Kambundji (6th), five of the top six from Tokyo have been confirmed. Eighth-placed Daryll Neita (USA) and European Champion Dina Asher-Smith (GBR) will join them. As of today, the Olympic podium will be represented in at least six disciplines; over 3000 m steeple of women even the first five, plus world record holder Beatrice Chepkoech (KEN).

17 Olympic champions confirmed, 2 “doubles.”

To date, 17 current individual Olympic champions have already made their final confirmation, including André De Grasse (CAN) and Jakob Ingebrigtsen (NOR), who are both planning a double start in Zurich. While the 200 m Olympic champion De Grasse contests the 100 m and 200 m on Thursday evening, the 1,500 m gold runner Ingebrigtsen first completed the 5,000 m on the Sechseläutenplatz on Wednesday and the 1,500 m in the Letzigrund the next day.

Not all finalists of the Diamond League have been determined yet. The last of eleven qualification meetings will take place in Brussels on Friday. Anyone who qualifies for Zurich in one of the 32 disciplines – 16 for women, 16 for men – has the chance to win the Diamond Trophy endowed with 30,000 US dollars, which will, in turn, lead to participation in the World Cup in Eugene / Oregon in 2022 ( USA) eligible.

      • Javon Downie stop with your madnes and use your common sense. It was Mboma’s first time attending the Olympics and she did that brilliant. The rest usually attends such events🤦‍♀️. Why did both withdraw? Are they afraid of Mboma? If you use your common sense than obviously she’s afraid😆😆🤣🤣🤣🤣.Mboma would have taught her a very good lesson.

        • Jessica Amon girl please. They’ve been running from early May and need rest. Mboma is a fine athlete but she’s not ready for Elaine so just stop.

          • Jessica Amon If you don’t have anything sensible to say, then don’t speak, you make yourself look pretty stupid. Zurich race is more important. You think Mboma can beat Elaine? 😂😂
