Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce’s world-leading performance and Shericka Jackson were winners at Saturday’s Silesia Diamond League meeting in Poland.
Fraser-Pryce was off to a very impressive start. The Jamaican had a pretty good lead even before she came out of her drive phase.
And by the time the 35-year-old hit the transition phase of her race, her competitors were out of it.
She crossed about three meters ahead in 10.66, the fastest time in the world this year. She had the previous best world lead of 10.67.
American Aleia Hobbs finished second in 10.94 and Marie-Josée Ta Lou, third in 11.00s.
Jamaicans Briana Williams, 11.11 and Natasha Morrison, 11.20, were fifth and ninth, respectively.
In the women’s 200m, Shericka Jackson was also impressed from start to finish. Jackson blasted off the curve unmatched and stretched her lead down the straightway to cross the line in 21.84. The time is a new meeting record.
Bahamian 400m world champion Shaunae Miller-Uibo, who ran from lane nine, finished strong to pip American Jenna Prandini, 22.35 to 22.39.
TyNia Gaither, also of the Bahamas, finished fourth in 22.70.
