It was a very calm yet animated Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce who faced reporters on the eve of the 2018 NACAC Senior Championships here in Toronto, Canada.

Affectionately called the “pocket rocket” Fraser-Pryce sees the Championships as an important milestone on her comeback, since motherhood, and is looking forward to the competition with optimism. “I’m very excited about these championships it’s my first one,” said Fraser-Pryce.

“I’ve had a lot of fun so far, but I’m here to work. I have two objectives, one is to have a technically sound 100m,” Fraser-Pryce reasoned. “I’ve not been able to put together a good race this season and when I say that I mean from start to finish; as my starts are not as explosive as before because I’ve not been able to lift a lot of weights and do a lot of things.”

Fraser-Pryce despite admitting to surpassing her expectations this season is optimistic about doing something special in Toronto. “My other objective is to dip below the 11-second barrier again, but that can only be achieved if I listen to the advice of my coach and execute the way he has coached me and the way that I know I can. Then I’ll be in good standings.”
