Sashalee Forbes beat Sherone Simpson to win the women’s 200m dash at the GC Foster Classic on Saturday (10 March) at the National Stadium in Kingston.
Forbes, who was the first off the curve because of her fast start, made it difficult to be caught down the homestretch. She crossed the line in 23.19secs, easily beating her Sprintec training partner, Simpson, 23.41 (-1.7m/s wind).
Natasha Morrison, also of Sprintec, won the women’s 100m in 11.48 ahead of UWI’s Jodean Williams, 11.58 and Aneka Brissett of Racers, 11.82.
Oshane Bailey of GC Foster College ran 10.40 to take the men’s event ahead of St. Kitts and Nevis’ Jason Rodgers, now at Racers, 10.41. The wind reading was negative 2.3m/s.
In the men’s 400m hurdles, Ansert Whyte ran 49.66 to beat Jaheel Hyde, 49.76. Janieve Russell, 56.43, beat her MVP teammate Nikita Tracey, 58.07 in the women’s event.
Demish Gaye of Sprintec dominated the men’s 400m, running the day’s only sub-46 seconds, 45.76 to beat Rusheen McDonald of MVP, 46.19.
Tiffany James of Mico was the women’s event winner in 52.21, just ahead of Rhonda Whyte of Sprintec, 52.42.
Simoya Campbell returned to the National Stadium with 2:06.16 to take the women’s 800m.
