KINGSTON, Jamaica – Telecommunications firm FLOW has once again given support to a local high school to assist with development projects. Yesterday (May 10), the company handed over a cheque valued at $850,000 towards the staging of the “Fortis 5K” walk/run event being hosted as a fundraiser for Kingston College. FLOW joins local sporting apparel brand Puma as co-title sponsors.
Scheduled for Sunday, May 22, the annual road race will benefit student and athletic development at the North Street-based institution, with a portion also being dedicated to the Alpha Boy’s School.
Speaking at the launch event, Donovan White, VP C&W Business, a sister company of FLOW, said: “As major stakeholders in local athletics, we certainly appreciate and commend the team at KC for the spectacular work being done in shaping our leaders of tomorrow – both on and off the track.” White, a KC Old Boy, also commended the school for maintaining strong associations with its past students, which have in turn spurred a tremendous amount of global support for the school. He also urged KC supporters to participate in the event.
Registration fees are $1000 per adult while students will pay $500 to compete. Individuals, Teams and Groups are asked to register by Friday, May 13.
Participants can register online via debit/credit card payment at www.RunningEventsJa.com, or pay at the school or any Paymaster outlet island wide.FLOW will also be mobilizing members of its more than 1000 employee-body to participate.
The Fortis 5K is being held under the patronage of Professor Stephen Vasciannie, while founder Ricardo Case will also be honoured for his contribution.
