Aggie Runner Eric Casarez Claims School Record in Men's 5000m at Raleigh Relays

Eric Casarez set a new school record in the men’s 5000m at the Raleigh Relays at Paul Derr Track & Field Facility on Thursday night. Casarez finished ninth out of 239 total runners with a time of 13:42.63, breaking Henry Lelei’s school record of 13:45.30 set in 2013.

This was a significant achievement for Casarez, who now holds three school records. Chandon Chhikara finished behind Casarez with a time of 14:34.79.

In other events, Gavin Hoffpauir led the Aggies in the 1500m with a time of 3:47.32, followed closely by Cooper Cawthra (3:48.00) and Victor Zuniga (3:50.82). In the 3000m steeplechase, Teddy Radkte and Jonathan Chung recorded times of 9:10.30 and 9:12.21, respectively.

Maddie Livingston led the trio of Grace Plain and Abbey Santoro in the women’s 10,000m, with Livingston registering a time of 35:00.65, becoming the No. 10 performer in school history. Plain clocked 35:31.52, while Santoro crossed the finish line in 35:57.08.

Julia Abell is scheduled to run the 3000m steeplechase on Friday at 4:40 p.m. CT to complete the Aggies’ trip to Raleigh.
