MOUNTAIN VIEW, USA – Poland´s hammer star Anita Wlodarczyk was for second time voted Track and Field News Women Athlete of the Year after 2014.
She is only the fourth thrower to win this title (before Faina Melnik, Ilone Briesenick and Valerie Adams).
As the magazine website informs, the international panel of experts had little difficulty in choosing the best woman of the Olympic year.
The 31-year-old Pole twice broke her own World Record, the first time in claiming gold in Rio. In forging an incredibly dominant season, Włodarczyk won all 12 of her meets and produced no fewer than the 42 farthest throws of the year.
IAAF Athlete of the Year Almaz Ayana finished second ahead of Jamaican sprinter Elaine Thompson.
In the top ten fourth is Ruth Jebet ahead of Keni Harrison and Sandra Perkovic. Number seven goes for Caster Semenya over Shaunae Miller, Vivian Cheruiyot and Caterine Ibarguen.
