Elaine Thompson-Herah hit top form at Saturday’s (25 July) Velocity Fest Meet 3 at Jamaica College (JC) in Kingston.
Thompson, running only her third race in nine months, stopped the clock in 10.73 seconds to take the women’s 100m. It’s the fastest time in the world this year. The wind reading, however, was 3.0m/s, which is above the allowable limit of 2.0m/s.
The Rio 2016 Olympic Games sprint double champion was unmatched from start to finish, winning by close to eight metres.
Shashalee Forbes was a distant second in 11.05 while Indian Srabani Nanda, who trains at MVP, finished third in 11.51.
Shaunae Miller-Uibo, on Friday night, ran 10.98 to beat the previous world lead of 11secs flat held by Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce.
MVP’s president Bruce James organizes the Velocity Fest track and field series.

Trouble again run girls run Elaine a come
Wind aided but still notable!
Folks don’t forget there was a 3m/s wind behind her. So she really ran 10.90s. She’s coming back to form so this is good.
Yes Elaine! You’re getting on track to reclaim your Olympic crown! Let’s go!
Stay healthy Elaine I’m glad you’re back on track again after injury
Maria Vasselle yes, she’s one of my favourite athlete 👍🏽
Maureen Hall good morning cuz ,
Maria Vasselle g’morning cuz, hope all is well!
Maureen Hall all is well giving God thanks for this another beautiful day
Maria Vasselle 🙏🏽💕
Ring the alarm !!!
But can she delivery when it matters most
Andre Kenton She delivered double gold at the Olympics in both the 100 & 200 a tremendous feat. I don’t think we need to worry about her ability to deliver, that’s been proven. A healthy and fit Elaine is pretty much unstoppable
Andre Kenton She already prove she can
Good run but with Hurricane Gilbert behind her it takes away from its credibility.
But good stuff.
Dean Price calculation without the wind would put it at 10.89s.. so decent run for her
A fit Elaine is very dangerous, even though it was wind-assisted that’s still fast for her 3rd race of the season
Is gonna be lit
Ann Rosemarie Murdock can u run? U ever won a race in your entire life at any level,?
Too slow for what?
This is my gurl,
Fantastic! Welcome back Elaine!
Great to see Elaine running injury free again. May not be defending this year but showing she has not wasted time during Covid restrictions. 😍👏🏼
Wow. She on fire
If ET is fit and not injured and mentally ready no one can beat her in the 1 and 2
❤❤love it. Gwaan Elaine 🔥🔥🔥
I told people to stop that shaunae miller uibo hype. The real queen got the message then watch the super queen do next time around SFP.
Gregory Blake, Shaunae runs the 2 & 4. Why make this comparison to queen of the 100m? 🤷🏽♀️
Vanessa Knight i ain’t making any comparison and don’t think there’s one, but after shaunae ran the fast people has been talking that she can come to the 100m and make noise.
Gregory Blake, I see what you’re saying. I don’t agree with what people were saying. That’s nonsense. I don’t think Shaunae has the speed and power necessary in the first 20meters. Even though I’m a Bahamian 🇧🇸 and love Shaunae, I can admit that Elaine would take her in the 100. But….likewise, Elaine can’t go against Shaunae in the 200. She may be able to lead for a short bit, but Shaunae would catch her at the turn.
Vanessa Knight 100% agree. you must be a trackster.
Vanessa Knight dont think Shaunae is strong enough for Elaine. Her handlers just not focusing enough on her weakness. Doing the rounds she is weak compared to Elaine
Gregory Blake yes people a hype her up uibo is innocent
Trevon Salmon i know, I am a big fan of her.
Gregory Blake but if she take it serious she can dominate just like bolt did. Bolt was a 2/4 runner
lol its possible but she is not a bolt and does not set up like bolt. She would have to run down everyone and the race will be over. Shaunae is a runner not quite a sprinter.
Vanessa Knight He’s not making comparisons, some are saying Jamaica in trouble and Shauna going to win gold in the 100m and 400m😂
she need to concern about the 400 than the 100 although the 100m schedule set of her but going all those rounds ain’t easy and nasser ain’t no joke. i bet $500 against two friends that shaunae would get beat and it happened. Shaunae need a lot of dedication to do two events she barely won the 400 over Felix. people need to stop make a bolt comparison and again i am a big fan
Gregory Blake, yup. Old school. Nowadays, I can’t get out of bed without creaking. LOL. 🤣
Latoya Sweetie, that’s just nonsense talk. Not happening.
Gregory Blake thats people who don’t know much about track and field they are thenones making noise. Shaunae ran the 100m as part of her speed development. Everybody knows she specializes in the 200/400
Gregory Blake, Naser is under investigation for whereabouts violations. If upheld she will miss Tokyo. In fact she had 3 violations before the World Championships but oddly was allowed to run. It was only after a fourth this year that she was provisionally suspended. So she should not be a 400m contender.
Well done, keep it up.
Great come back stay healthy
Getting back to top for Auntie Elaine??? I know you have lots more greatness in you 🙏🙏🙏
At this pace she will probably break the wr
Jahfet Moore you a mad smaddy.
3 race in and 10.73 easing down. Not impossible
Save this for the archives
Jahfet Moore Remember it’s windaided.
Looking great Elaine.
About 10.89 adjusted. Still a solid run.
Easy like Sunday morning
That’s no surprise
Man the wind messing up everything!! Still a good run nevertheless. She’s in good form.
Marley Walsh hungry
These times cant be true
Sudian Davis wind aided 3.0
Nïchølas Jóseph ok. The times in Florida are also fast
