Olympic Games sprint double champion, Elaine Thompson-Herah, is set to leave the MVP Track Club, according to media reports.
Nationwide News is reporting that sources close to Thompson-Herah disclosed the development on Thursday. It’s being reported that Thompson-Herah sent a letter to MVP and her major shoe sponsors Nike, indicating her decision.
Stephen Francis coached Elaine Thompson-Herah to back-to-back sprints double titles in Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020. She also won silver in her breakthrough year of 2015 at the Beijing World Championships.
It is also understood that Thompson-Herah may sign with Puma.
Trackalerts.com was unable to get confirmation from MVP president Bruce James, but he told Nationwide Sports that discussions are underway regarding Thompson-Herah’s future at the track club.
“In short, I would not be surprised if she [Thompson Herah] is not here. I don’t know if she is going to be here but neither do I for anybody else in her situation,” Francis told the RJRGLEANER Group.
Elaine Thompson-Herah ran a new Jamaica and Olympic Games record of 10.61 to win the 100m in Tokyo and lowered the mark less than two weeks later to 10.54. She also broke Merlene Ottey Jamaican record of 21.53 to win the 200m in Tokyo.
She ended her season with victory at the Diamond League in Zurich.

Many Jamaicans mindset if the above story is truth is what we see place out everyday especially in many relationships where the persons who thrusted others to great heights are drop along the journey. Continuation is not a part of our culture mostly on the black side of our population hence the reason many black owned businesses failed when the founder dies! Success attract the bad and the good, choose wisely lady.
I know they are great coaches. I’m not sure who is the best in the island and who really has the best program or skill set…I’m just thinking that she would definitely make a good choice from the top options and put in the hard work to always be at her best – hopefully.

She will still be team JA and I’m sure she must have her valid reasons for making such decision. If she remains disciplined and still trains hard, she will continue to do well…. She subsequently sustained injuries for the next few seasons!!!

Jerome Brown she left in 2016, she’s won a medal almost every year. She was hurt 2017, Elaine did not win a single medal after 2016 untill now. And she was in all the finals.

Additionally, why didn’t this happen in 2019, 2016, 2015, 2013, 2012, 2011, 2009 and 2008 then? If she stayed at MVP, Franno may have even stopped her from running the 200m yet again. As Franno himself said, there comes a certain point in ur career where other things matter more. And SAFP and Elaine both should have the freedom to do whatever they want. Their names are cemented in the history books regardless of what happens in the future.
