Elaine Thompson explains #Doha2019 100m performance

Coverage of the 17th IAAF World Athletics Championships #Doha2019 is brought to you by #Puma:

Elaine Thompson couldn’t explain what went wrong for her during her post-race interview.

Thompson ran 10.93 for fourth place in the highly anticipated women’s 100m final at the 17th IAAF World Athletics Championships here on Sunday night (29 Sept).
Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, who missed the London 2017 Championships due to the birth of her son Zion, won her fourth 100m title in 10.71.

“I can’t explain what went wrong. I just went out there to deliver, and my legs weren’t firing,” said Thompson, the Rio 2016 Olympic Games sprint double champion while adding “I gave it my all.”

“I have to just continue to stay positive and trust the process,” said Thompson, who started the event as the world leader with 10.73.

“I have the 200m, so I have to just move on from here.”

“I felt great during the warm-up, but when I went out there, the body wasn’t firing.”

Asked about the problem she had with her Achilles tendon over the years, Thompson was quick to say she won’t blame her fourth-place finish on that.

“It was acting up before I came here, but I didn’t put it on my brain. I said (to myself), ‘God whatever this Championship gave me, I will take it’ because its an up and down season with this Achilles injury.”

“I have days when I come to the track I can dearly sprint. Pushing off the track is very painful for me, and I think the last three days it was really tender pushing off the track,” she explained.

“To start off Saturday it wasn’t that bad so I wouldn’t blame it too much on the Achilles injury,” she said.

  1. Elaine focus on the 200m and not worry over spilt milk. Try and do ur best with God in the mix. From where we r sitting we can talk all we want but who actually knows ur pain. Love u and u have my support always. MCTish101.

  2. Julia Haskins-Anderson you couldn’t run from a fly to save your life!! You have never competed at this level. Did you send her there? Anyone with any sense would know that Achilles issues never go away as long as she remains competitive. She has done so much for Jamaica and for herself. I don’t see you doing any running except where your mouth !!
Never contributed anything of value to this land ???‍♂️?
