Patrice Moody, Shellece Clark, Kevona Davis and Bethany Bridge, all from Edwin Allen, and with very good chances for all four 100m gold medals, easily booked semi-final places on Thursday.
In class 1, Moody was easy in winning her heat 1 in 12.125, but St. Jago and BVI’s Nelda Huggins at 11.85 is the only one to break 12 seconds so far.
Rushelle Burton of Camperdown is the only other athlete to run faster than Moody with 12.23.
In Class 2, St. Jago duo Shaneil English 12.04 and Kimone Shaw 12.05, along with Holmwood Tech’s Shanette Allison 12.10 are the fastest from the heats.
Clark looked very good in qualifying with 12.12 from heat 2.
Davis is the second fastest from the Class 3 girls’ heats with 12.00, but that was all needed to win heat 2. The leader going into Friday’s semi-finals is St. Lucian Julien Alfred, representing St. Catherine High, and who recorded the best time of the day, 11.88.
Bridge’s 12.23 was the best time of the Class 4 girls’ heats. Holmwood’s Sashieka Steele comes next with 12.31.
