At the end of the yesterday's three events at Vere Technical Edwin Allen leads the girls and boys sections ahead of Holmwood and Hydel respectively.  The events are Steeplechase, Discus and Javelin.

The top three girls schools are Edwin Allen 53, Holmwood 25 and St. Jago 24 while top three boys schools are Edwin Allen 35, Hydel 27 and St. Jago 19.

Edwin Allen is well placed to retain their title however Hydel will have to contend with the 2012 winner St. Jago who is returning after last year's absence.

Central Champs returns to Kirkvine after a seven-year absence and will see a 9:30 start this morning with the 1500M race for girls and boys for all classes.

Last year it was a one day meet at Vere after its title sponsor pulled out.  This year three events were held at the same venue on Wednesday prior to the official start on Thursday.

There are forty two competing schools this year including defending champions Edwin Allen for the girls and Hydel for the boys.  Two of the schools – one from the West and one from the East are being accommodated in the Steeplechase in order to get qualifying times for Champs.

The finals scheduled for day one are the 100M, 400M and the 1500M for girls and boys in all classes with the 100M finals down to begin at 2:20 pm.  The last event of the day will be the 4x100M relays for girls and boys in all classes.
