The Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA) has extended an invitational to members NACAC states to take part in June’s Jamaican U18 Invitational.

Athletics Canada, in partnership with the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA), announced on May 16 that Kingston will host the Jamaican U18 Invitational on Saturday, June 30, and Sunday, July 1.

“We have extended the invitation to the other Caribbean countries, but we haven’t gotten back any word from them as yet,” said Dr Warren Blake, president of the JAAA.

Invitations sent to NACACterritories for Jamaica U18 Invitational

He continued: “We are hoping other NACAC territories will send some of there top U18 athletes.”

“But Canada has confirmed they will be sending 45 athletes. We are putting things in place to have them hosted here.”

“Following the cancellation of the NACAC U18 Championships and Youth Olympic Games Trials, we felt it was imperative to find an alternative that offers Canadian U18 athletes the opportunity to compete in a high-calibre international event,” said Athletics Canada’s Chief Executive Officer Rob Guy.
