World Championships medallists Fedrick Dacres and Shanieka Ricketts won their events at Saturday’s (8 Aug) Velocity Fest Meet 4 at the National Stadium in Kingston.

Dacres, the Doha 2019 discus silver medallist, won his pet event here with a throw of 64.45m.

He trailed Chad Wright, who got out to 62.45 metres, after the second round. Dacres opened with 62.25 then foul before getting out to his winning mark of 64.45m. Dacres’ other marks were 62.72m and 63.39m.

Wright finished second with 63.24 and Kai Chang, the World U20 champion, third with 57.37m.

Ricketts won the women’s triple jump with 14.21. The winning mark came on her first attempt.

The Doha 2019 silver medal winner had marks of 14.02m, 14.09m, 13.86 and 14.07. She fouled on her second attempt.

St. Lucian Sandisha Antoine, who was the other competitor, finished 13.50m.

Domon Williams of Guyana leapt 7.48m and 15.40m to win the men’s long and triple jump events.

Tissanna Hickling recorded 6.30m in the women’s long jump.

Chang threw 15.01m to top the men’s shot put ahead of Rasheed Downer, 14.47m.

Orlando Thomas threw 62.02m for the top mark in the men’s javelin.
