Fedrick Dacres and Shaunae Miller-Uibo walked away with NACAC Awards

Fedrick Dacres and Shaunae Miller-Uibo are North American, Central American and Caribbean (NACAC) Athletic Association Athletes of the Year 2018.

Jamaican Dacres, the 2018 Diamond League discus winner, was named Male Athlete of the Year. Dacres, who also won theCommonwealth Games and NACAC Championships titles, finished the season unbeaten.

Bahamian Miller-Uibo, who has been unbeaten in 15 races this year, walked away with the Female Athlete of the Year. Miller-Uibo, who also won both Commonwealth Games and Diamond League 200m titles, ended the year with the fastest 400m time since 2006.

Jamaica’s World Junior sprint double champion, Brianna Williams and Cuban Jordan Díaz were the junior award winners.
Williams’ 200m victory came in a meet record time of 22.50s.

Díaz has an outstanding year. The triple jumper won the World U20 Championships, NACAC Championships and Youth Olimpic Games. He also took silver at the Central American and Caribbean Games.

NACAC President, Víctor López, congratulates these recipients for their outstanding season and performances for 2018.
