GAINESVILLE, Florida – Fast 55m sprint times were recorded at the Jimmy Carnes Invitational on Friday (17 Jan).
However, Tahesia Harrigan-Scott of British Virgin Islands, won the event in 6.76secs, just 0.01 shy of her national record back in 2006, after posting 6.78 in the heats. Jamaican Olympic Games and World Championships gold medallist, Aleen Bailey, was second in 6.82. Bailey clocked 6.91 in heats.
Olympic Games 4x100m relay silver medallist, Samantha Henry-Robinson of Jamaica, did 6.84 for third overall. She did 6.92 in the heats. US Moscow relay medalist Octavious Freeman 6.90, also PB, was fourth overall.
In men 55m, Marvin Bracy won in 6.18 over Gerald Phiri of Zambia 6.20 and Adam Harris 6.21 for Guyana national record.
Meanwhile, in Terre Haute, Barbados' Olympian Greggmar Swift posted fast 7.69 over the 60m hurdles during a Triangular meet.
In New York at the Armory for the Great Dane Classic, Jamaican Akeem Gauntlett topped the 200m field in 20.99secs.
Jamaican Omar McLeod in his second indoor meet ever, won the 200m in 21.09 (his first ever indoor 200m) and improved in second meet at 60 m hurdles to 7.76 in Fayetteville.
