World indoor 60m record holder Christian Coleman will be the highlight of this year’s Golden Gala in Rome on May 31.

He will face his US rival Ronnie Baker, Commonwealth Games winner Akani Simbine, World 200m champion Ramil Guliyev, French European co-record holder Jimmy Vicaut and Chinese Su Bingtian.

Hometown hero Lamont Jacobs and last year’s top junior Filippo Tortu will also face the starter in the men’s 100m.

Jamaicans Shericka Jackson, Stephanie-Ann McPherson to compete at Golden Gala

Shericka Jackson is entered for the women’s 200m. Doha winner Marie-Josee Ta Lou is, however, the one to beat. Blessing Okagbare will also be a contender.

In 400m, Stephanie-Ann McPherson faces London silver medalist Salwa Naser competes and US World indoor champion Courtney Okolo.

Isaac Makwala to highlight Golden Gala 400m

In the men’s 400m, Botswana’s Commonwealth Games champion Isaac Makwala goes up against World medalist Abdalelah Haroun.

Baboloki Thebe, also of Botswana, and British European leader Matthew Hudson-Smith are other contenders.

Coleman for Stockholm

Meanwhile, Coleman is also down to run in Stockholm on June 10. The World Championships silver medalist from London will compete in the 200m.

His target will be Michael Johnson’s 200m stadium record of 19.77 from 1996. This will be his first 200m race of 2018.

Coleman is set to face-off with Justin Gatlin over 100m at Prefontaine Classic on May 26.
