Tamara Clark won the 60m/200m double while Rasheem Brown topped the men’s 60m hurdles at the Carolina Challenge on Saturday (23 Jan).
Cayman Island’s Brown (North Carolina A&T) ran away with the men’s 60m hurdles in 7.77s. He earlier ran 7.89s to quality for the final, which he beat Jesse Henderson (Miss State) 7.99 and Terry Smith Jr (Miss State) 8.06.
Jamaican Roselaee Cooper of Mississippi State finished third in the women’s 60m hurdles in 8.24s. Imani Carothers of Georgia won the event in 8.18 ahead of Destinee Rocker of South Carolina 8.19.
Clark (Alabama) topped the women’s 60m dash in 7.28 ahead of Semira Killebrew (Florida) 7.31 and Cambrea Sturgus (North Carolina A&T) 7.33.
Clake, in the 200m, won with an impressive 22.90 record. She broke the previous facility record of 23.03 to beat Talitha Diggs of Florida, 23.14 and Delecia McDuffie (North Carolina A&T) 23.54.
McDuffie returned to top the women’s 400m in 53.48 ahead of Alysia Johnson (South Carolina) 54.00
Tavarius Wright (North Carolina A&T) won the men’s 60m dash in 6.65 ahead of Dedrick Vanover (Florida) 6.80 and Samuel Adams (Campbell) 6.80. Tyler Davis (Florida) finished 4th in 6.84m.
Javonte Harding (North Carolina A&T) won the men’s 200m dash in 20.69. His teammate Randolph Ross, the winner of heat 1, also ran 20.69. The facility record was 20.70.
