Christine Mboma won the women’s 100m title at the Athletics Namibia Grand Prix held in her home country at Swakopmund on Saturday, January 15.

The Olympic Games 200-meter silver medallist clocked 11.25 seconds for the victory. She was neck-and-neck with countrywoman Beatrice Masilingi, who finished second in 11.37. Namibian teenager Ndawana Haitembu was third in a time of 12.32 seconds.
Christine Mboma, who battled Jamaican Shericka Jackson towards the end of the 2021 season, was pleased with her race. “The race was good and nice,” she said about the experience.
She is, however, unsure of whether she will tackle the 100 meters against Jackson’s teammates, Elaine Thompson-Herah and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce this season.
“I enjoyed competing with the other athletes,” she explained, “but the issue of me taking on the 100 meters – I am not yet sure about it because I was just trying out something new.”
“Time will definitely tell if I will continue competing in the 100 meters,” she concluded.
