Carter explains “greatest challenge” ahead of London 2017 success

US 400m hurdler Kori Carter has spoken of how a tough decision to change coaches was pivotal to her winning world gold at the London 2017 World Championships.

“My greatest challenge was moving last fall from Los Angeles to Kentucky to be coached by my old college coach, Flo (Edrick Floreal),” she told IAAF.

“It was a difficult move for me because it forced me out of my comfort zone, but it was necessary for me to make it to the next level. At the end of the 2016 season I was racking my brain to work out what went wrong.

“I had only just missed out on one spot from making the Olympic team, so it was not as if I was running terribly. But I knew I had to make a change because I didn’t want to be in this same position and feel like this again.”
