Gatlin will face strong opponents at Ostrava Golden Spike

London 2017 World 100m champion Justin Gatlin started with light training for the coming Olympic Year. He won silver at the Doha 2019 World Athletics Championships.

He, as usual, is not planning to compete indoors. Recent Doha Worlds silver winner might have his 2020 season as last.

“But let’s see what happens, it is not finally confirmed,” says his agent Renaldo Nehemiah.

Gatlin, 37, is one of the most consistent sprinters of all time.

His first major title was the Athens 2004 Olympic Games 100m gold. He won world 100m titles in Helsinki 2005 and London 2017 World Championships and the 200m in 2005 at the same level.

Usain Bolt made his debut at the Helsinki 2005 World Championships and finished eighth in the 200m.

Overall, Gatlin has won nine gold, nine silver and two bronze at major Championships, including the World Relays and World Indoor Championships.

He has personal best times of 9.74 and 19.57
