The startlist for the first session of the competition is now available, and fans can get a sneak peek at the talented athletes who will be competing in the opening events. The Carifta Games is a three-day event, and the opening day’s first session promises to be full of excitement and intense competition.

Athletes from across the Caribbean will be competing in various events, including the highly anticipated U20 girls’ 100m race featuring Jamaican sensation Alana Reid and British Virgin Islands’ Adaejah Hodge. Reid is coming off an impressive 10.92 at Champs, while Hodge set a world U20 200m record of 22.33 during the indoor season.

In the U20 boys’ event, Jamaica’s Bouwahjie Nkrumie is highly favored to take gold after setting a new Jamaica national junior record with a blistering 9.99 seconds performance at the Boys and Girls Champs 2023 last week. Defending champion DeAndre Daley, also from Jamaica, is expected to give him a run for his money.

Aside from the sprints, the 400m heats will also be on in the morning session, with the finals set for later in the day. Fans can expect an exciting and highly competitive three days of athletics action at the 50th Carifta Games 2023.
