Briana Williams stamped her class with another sprint double on Sunday’s penultimate day of the 48th Carifta Games here in Grand Cayman.

Williams, who topped the 100m field in 11.25 on Saturday, returned the following night to take the 200m in a season-best 22.89secs.

Joanna Reid, 23.69, secured the quinella for Jamaica to move its medal tally to 57) 19 gold, 25 silver and 13 bronze). The Bahamas sits in second 16 medals, while Trinidad and Tobago are third overall with 14.

Shaquena Foote was also a double winner for Jamaica. She ran 58.05 to take the U20 girls’ 400m hurdles to go with her 400m. Jonnelle Thomas 58.77 picked up silver for Jamaica.

Jamaica’s Lotavia Brown, who was second in the U20 girls’ long jump, returned to turn the table on Chantoba Bright (GUY) 13.09m to 12.63m.

Meanwhile, Jamaica’s Xavier Nairne came up big in the U20 boys’ 200m, crossing the finish line in 20.65 ahead of his teammate Antonio Watson 20.89.

Jaleel Croal of British Virgin Islands, 21.43 and Trinidad and Tobago’s Shaniqua Bascombe, 23.36, were the U17 200m winners.

Jamaica took 1-2 in the U20 boys’ 800m final with Kimar Farquharson 1:49.64 and Tyrice Taylor 1:49.73.

Bahamian Jasmine Knowles, who led from the start, topped the U20 girls’ 800m with 2:09.49 ahead ion the fast-finishing Joanna Archer (GUY) 2:10.17.

Nirobi Smith-Mills won gold for Bermuda in the U17 boys’ 800m with a time of 1:57.95. He beat Savion Hoyte (BAR) 1:58.62 and Adrian Nethersole (JAM) 1:58.78

Jodyann Mitchell 2:11.92 and Kishay Rowe 2:11.97 handed Jamaica gold and silver in the U17 girls’ 800m final.

Rasheeme Griffith (BAR) came out on top in the U20 boys’ 400m hurdles final with 51.47secs ahead of Matthew Thompson (BAH) 52.23 and Shamar Brown (JAM) 52.51

Jayden Brown 53.03 and Sharvis Simmonds 54.11 finished first and second for Jamaica in the U17 boys’ 400m hurdles.

Quaycian Davis 60.78 and Sashel Reid 61.59 gave Jamaica 1-2 in the U17 girls’ 400m hurdles final.
