KINGSTON, Jamaica – Two-time Olympic Games 200m champion Veronica Campbell-Brown could be a contender for the Commonwealth Games 100m title this summer.
Campbell-Brown, who has the world leading 100m time of 10.86, has been entered for next week’s Supreme Ventures Jamaica Senior Championships (June 26-29) at the National Stadium.
A Commonwealth Games title is the only gold medal missing from Campbell-Brown’s portfolio, having won silver in the 100m in Manchester 2000 and lost to Sherone Simpson over 200m at the Melbourne Games in 2002.
Sources close to the situation confirmed Campbell’s entry for Trials.
Campbell-Brown missed last year’s Trials after being sidelined for 10 months, before having a two-year ban overturned in February, also recorded a wind-aided 22.36secs victory at the Star Athletics Sprint Series Meet in Clermont, Florida, the same day for her fast 100m time.
The 2014 Commonwealth Games will be staged in Glasgow, Scotland from July 23 to August 3.
