Saqukine Cameron said she "want to be the first person in my school to go under 23 seconds" in the 200m.
On Wednesday's second day at the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls Champs, Cameron easily qualified for the semi-final round with 23.59secs.
"That's a fast time" was her reaction after heat 1 of the Class 1 girls 200m.
Cameron is highly fancied to win the event.
“I don’t want to disappoint my coach and my school,” she added.
She continued: “Everyone is looking for me to do well, so I have to go out there and stay focused.”
