JC Bounces Back with a Win in Boys’ 4x100m Championship at Penn Relays

Despite setbacks on the opening day, Jamaica College (JC) showed incredible teamwork and emerged as champions in the High School Boys’ 4×100-meter Championship of America title at Penn Relays, held in Franklin Field on Thursday.

In a heavily drizzled atmosphere, the small crowd witnessed the most anticipated race of the event. After an intense race, Jamaica College finished first with a winning time of 40.97 seconds. The team comprising of Daniel Beckford, Hecton Benjamin, Jaiden Reid, and Malquie Smith-Band demonstrated exceptional coordination and ran a fantastic race to clinch the title.

Jamaica College had a mixed start to the day, getting disqualified from the 4×800-meter and failing to finish the prelioms of the 4×400-meter. However, their triumphant run in the 4×100-meter made up for the earlier losses.

St. Elizabeth Tech (STETHS) from Jamaica finished second across the line in the 4×100-meter, clocking in at 41.19 seconds. Archbishop John Carroll (DC) finished with the same time but secured the third spot due to a tiebreaker. Other teams that participated in the race included Camperdown (JAM), Kingston College (JAM), Wolmer’s Boys (JAM), Mallard Creek (NC), and IMG Academy (FL). Unfortunately, St. Jago (JAM) was unable to finish the race due to unforeseen circumstances.

Jamaica College’s victory was a result of their hard work and dedication, and they proved themselves as a formidable team in the world of high school track and field.
