RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil – King of track and field, Usain Bolt, is ready to do whatever it takes to win his third straight men’s 100m Olympic Games title.
Bolt took the first step into history on Saturday morning at the XXXI Olympiad, Rio 2016, here at the Olympic Stadium in Rio de Janeiro, by booking his ticket into the semi-final round.
The Beijing 2008 and London 2012 champion, got what he described a “sluggish” start, but was very easy across the line in 10.07 ahead of Jamaican-born, Andrew Fisher of Bahrain, 10.12.
“It wasn’t the best start,” Bolt first pointed out. “It (start) felt kind of a sluggish. I think it’s the fact that it is morning. I don’t use to running this early in the morning at any championships, so hopefully tomorrow I come out, I feel much better and more smoother,” said the world 100m record holder at 9.58.
He, however, said he is “feeling good” and “happy that I got the first one out of the way.”
“Now its all about execution again and get it right when it comes to the finals,” added Bolt the three-time world 100m champion.
Bolt again made it clear he is here to win. “That’s what I am here for and that’s what I am going for, so my focus is to go out there and do my best, and to execute well …so tomorrow I am just going to come and do what I have to do.”
He also says the semi-finals are going to be very good.
“It definitely going to be a good semi-final, all the guys running fast, so its going to be some strong semi-finals, but its good, it gets you running and up to speed to go out there and run fast.”
