Former world 100m champion Yohan Blake is confident of a much better performance on Friday after he stumbled at the start of his 100m quarter-final at the Jamaica Senior Championships on Thursday.
Blake, who was drawn in lane 7, almost fell, but recovered to snatch second place in 10.24, the same time as Kemarley Brown. Asafa Powell won the race in 9.98 seconds.
Blake, who is recovering from injury, told trackalerts.com that he is not far off his best.
He said he felt very good warming up but “I was too eager (to run) and that was what caught me at the start.”
“If I had gotten out, I would be right up there with Safa (Asafa Powell) but I have to just take my time,” Blake said.
The second fastest man in history said he’s going to do “much better” on Friday.
“I am working and everything is going according to plan. Mentally I’m getting there, but physically I am ready,” he said.
