Barbados produced a superb performance to win the men’s 4×100 metres relay in a national record at the Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games in Barranquilla on August 2.

The team of Shane Brathwaite, Mario Burke, Burkheart Ellis and Jaquone Hoyte won in 38.41 seconds. The new mark beat the previous best by 0.14 seconds.

The Dominican Republic took silver in 38.71.

Jamaica’s team of Nesta Carter, Romario Williams, Rasheed Dwyer and Javoy Tucker, was only good for third in 38.79.

Jura Levy, Sherone Simpson, Jonielle Smith and Natasha Morrison took Jamaica across the line first in the women’s 4x100m in a time of 43.41 seconds.

Trinidad and Tobago’s Khalifa St. Fort, Zakiyah Denoon, Reyase Thomas and Semoy Hackett took silver in 43.61 and the Dominican Republic the bronze in 43.68.

London 2012 Olympic champion Keshorn Walcott won the men’s javelin with a final round effort of 84.47m.

Grenada’s Anderson Peters had appeared destined to take gold but had to settle for second with 81.78m.
