Commonwealth Games 100m champion Kemar Bailey-Cole has decided to change coach.

Bailey-Cole, who pulled up during the men’s 100m final at Jamaica Trials, said he has struggled with injuries over the past five years.

The sub-10 sprinter will rejoin Gregory Little after spending the last five years with Glen Mills. Little is one of the coaches at Mills’ Racers Track Club.

“My decision was after careful deliberation on my progress over the past five seasons, notwithstanding injuries. I look forward to working through my latest injury and getting my career back on track,” said Bailey-Cole in a statement.

“Little was responsible for my progression as an athlete with steady sub-ten clockings on the circuit from the start of my career in 2010 until the start of 2014,” said the 27-year-old sprinter.

Bailey-Cole, who has a personal best of 9.92, was part of Jamaica’s teams that won 4x100m gold at the Olympic Games in 2012 and 2016.

Full statement:
Effective immediately, I hereby announce that I have decided to return to my former Coach, Gregory Little, of Racers Track Club. Little was responsible for my progression as an athlete with steady sub-ten clockings on the circuit from the start of my career in 2010 until the start of 2014. My last five seasons, on and off, have been under the tutelage of Racers Head Coach Glen Mills. I would like to thank Mr. Mills for his work to date.

My decision was after careful deliberation on my progress over the past five seasons, notwithstanding injuries. I look forward to working through my latest injury and getting my career back on track.

I am overwhelmed by the support from my former training partners who have also sought other coaches over the past few months and who continue to be a source of motivation.
