Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce continued her comeback after giving birth in 2017. At the Gala Dei Castelli Meeting in Bellinzona, Switzerland on July 18, the “Pocket Rocket” sprinter was a second-place finisher.

Fraser-Pryce ran 11.15secs, her third fastest time this season, to finish behind Swiss sprinter Mujinga Kambundji, 11.13.

Powell’s search for his 100th sub-10 times continued…

Asafa Powell, however, placed 4th in the men’s 100m B race in 10.44. This section was won by Jamaican Nesta Carter in 10.27.

Powell, whose last race was in February, has broken the 10-second barrier more times than anyone else – 97 times.

Mike Rodgers, however, was the men’s 100m winner in 9.92 ahead of Turkey’s Jak Ali Harvey, 9.99secs. World champion Justin Gatlin ended fourth in 10.13secs.

Madiea Ghafoor of The Netherlands won the women’s 400m 51.12 ahead of Cyprus’ Eleni Artymata, 51.14 and Swiss record-holder Lea Sprunger, 51.36.

Nigeria’s Commonwealth champion Tobi Amusan won the 100m hurdles in 12.71 while The USA’s Freddie Crittenden topped the men’s 110m hurdles in 13.31.

In the one-lap obstacle, American David Kendziera was the winner in 48.77secs.
