Shanette Allison has emerged as a real threat to pre-season favourite Britany Anderson in the Class 2 girls’ 100m hurdles.
Allison, who was very clean, stormed to victory in the Class 2 girls’ 100m hurdles in 13.40 at Saturday’s (Jan 28) Queens Grace Invitational meet at the National Stadium.
She demolished the 2016 record of 14.69 set by Jada Thomas of Immaculate Conception.
Anderson of Vere, who step up in class and is expected to shine, also dominiated her heat (1), but took second overall in 13.48.
Excelsior’s Ackera Nugent, who was technically correct, raced across the finish line to take the Class 3 girls’ 80m hurdles in 11.69. She ran into a negative 1.2m/s wind and was still able to beat Kimone McLeod (St. Jago) 2016 mark of 11.82.
Holmwood Tech’s Dyandra Gray, the heat 4 winner, was second overall in 11.74 and her teammate, Shamel Robinson, third in 11.84.
Vere’s Amoi Brown also took down the Class 1 girls’ 100m hurdles 2016 record of 14.20 in 13.75.
In Class 1, Alex Robinson of Wolmer’s, won in a record time, 13.88 seconds ahead of Orlando Bennett of Calabar, 13.96.
Timothy Lee of KC, 13.95, was also a record breaker on the day in the Class 3 boys’ 100m hurdles.
Wane Pinnock of KC, 14.15, beat his teammate Davian Williams, who ran the same time in the Class 2 boys’ 110m hurdles.
