CLERMONT, Florida – American Tyson Gay was beaten over 100m at Saturday’s (12 May) Pure Athletics/NTC Sprint Elite Meet.
Gay, the 2007 world 100m champion, ran 10.11s to finish behind Canadian Gavin Smellie, 10.10s. Gay was losing his second race in a month.
Kyle Greaux of Trinidad and Tobago topped the men’s 200m field in 20.08, a personal best mark.
Alonso Edward was second in 20.23s and Smellie, third in 20.39s.
Jamaican Chris-Ann Gordon had the best time, 51.21s amongst the 400m women. Libania Grenot of Italy got second with 51.93s.
Matthew Hudson-Smith of Great Britain won the men’s 400m in 44.70s.
In women 100m, Dezerea Bryant ran 11.16s while the 200m taken by Felicia Brown in 22.85s.
Romanian Alina Rotaru leapt 6.58m in the women’s long jump.
