Yohan Blake and Shericka Jackson were among the Jamaican winners at Wednesday’s (28 March) Queensland International Track Classic, a warm-up meet for the Commonwealth Games.

Blake won the men’s 100m in 10.34secs to beat Canadian Aaron Brown, 10.41 and Australian Rohan, 10.46.

Julian Forte, the race 2 winner, was timed in 10.48.

Olympic 100m and 200m champion Thompson won her heat of the women’s event in 11.72 (-1.7m/s), ahead of Corinne Humphreys of England, 11.93.

However, in the other heat, Jamaica’s Olympic finalist Christania Williams was second in 11.63, behind overall winner Dina Asher-Smith, 11.31secs, the wind here was negative 1.0m/s.

Jackson was the fastest in the women’s 200m, winning her heat in 23.05 (-1.3m/s) from Britain’s Bianca Williams, 23.56 and Australia’s Riley Day, 23.57.

In the women’s 400m, Stephenie-Ann McPherson was the fastest with 51.07, topping race two winner Amantle Montsho of Botswana, 51.79.

Jamaica’s Tajay Gayle won the men’s long jump with 7.95, just edging Sri Lankan Janak Wimalasiri, 7.93m.

Ronald Levy topped the men’s 110m hurdles field in 13.83 (-1.8m/s wind) ahead of David King of England, 13.92.

Jamaica’s Janieve Russell, 55.10, finished behind South Africa’s Wanda Nel, who ran ran 55.01 to win the women’s 400m hurdles.

Megan Tapper ran 13.65 (-2.1m/s wind) finished 4th in the women’s 100m hurdles, won by Australian Brianna Beachan in 13.41.

Rusheen McDonald was the 10th fastest 400m finisher in 47.91. The event was won by Leaname Maotoanong of Botswana in 46.35.

O’Dayne Richards threw 19.77m to take second spot in the men’s shot put, taken by Australian Damien Birkinhead, 20.30m
