Elaine Thompson, Nesta Carter race over longer distances at UWI Invitational

Double Olympic winner Elaine Thompson tested her condition over 400m with a 55.98 clocking for 14th overall at the UWI Invitational at Usain Bolt Track on Saturday (25 March). The winner was Janieve Russell 52.59.

In the men’s 400m, Martin Manley won with 46.36 ahead of sub-20 200m runner Miguel Francis, 46.48 and another top sprinter Rasheed Dwyer 46.64. Also, following them in the event, were Julian Forte 49.42 and Warren Weir 50.91.

Nesta Carter got 21.37 (+0.2m/s) in his heat, was fourth overall in the men’s 200m won by Relay Olympic medalist Javon Francis in 20.73 (-0.2m/s)

Shanieka Ricketts (formerly Thomas) got a World leading 14.20m (+0.1) in the triple jump and second was Tamara Myers 14.02 (-0.5) – a new national record for Bahamas.
