2028 U.S. Olympic Trials Return to Eugene
Eugene will host the Olympic Trials for the sixth consecutive Games and the ninth time overall, extending the city’s long association with major U.S. track and field championships.
The Trials will serve as one of the biggest stops on the American track and field calendar. National champions, Olympic medalists and emerging contenders are expected to compete across the six days as Olympic qualification takes center stage.
For athletes, the meeting will represent the final step in the domestic selection process for LA 2028. Performances at Hayward Field will determine who earns the opportunity to represent the United States on home soil at the Olympic Games.
The 2028 edition will also place another major global spotlight on Eugene, widely known in the sport as Track Town, U.S.A.
Hayward Field has hosted several of the biggest track and field competitions in the United States and internationally. Its return as the Olympic Trials venue means many of the country’s top athletes will again chase Olympic places at one of the sport’s best-known stadiums.
With Los Angeles hosting the Olympics, the 2028 Trials will carry added significance for American athletes seeking the chance to compete at a home Olympic Games.
Six days of qualifying rounds, semifinals and finals will decide which athletes move on from Eugene with places on Team USA.
The 2028 U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Track & Field are scheduled for June 17-22 at Hayward Field, with the successful athletes advancing toward the LA 2028 Olympic Games.
