Marvin Bracy-Williams Banned for 12 Years — A Sprint Career Ends in Disgrace

American sprinter Marvin Bracy-Williams has been handed a 12-year ban following a third breach of anti-doping regulations, the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) confirmed on Friday (5 June).

Bracy-Williams, 32, who claimed silver in the 100 metres at the 2022 World Championships, committed three whereabouts failures — on July 1, 2025, February 24, 2026, and April 1, 2026. Whereabouts rules obligate athletes to report their daily location to anti-doping officials for a minimum one-hour window each day, allowing authorities to conduct surprise out-of-competition tests.

A first whereabouts offense typically carries a ban of between one and two years, depending on how much responsibility the athlete bears. However, because Bracy-Williams had previously violated these rules on two prior occasions, his case warranted a significantly harsher penalty, with sanctions ranging from eight years to a lifetime ban.

From World Stage to Enhanced Games — Marvin Bracy-Williams’ Stunning Downfall

The newly imposed 12-year suspension will begin once he has completed a separate 45-month ban he accepted in November 2025 for a different anti-doping infraction. On Friday, Bracy-Williams informed USADA of his decision to retire from competition. Should he choose to return from retirement, the remainder of his suspension will still apply.

All competitive results recorded on or after April 1, 2026 have been voided, and Bracy-Williams must forfeit any associated medals, rankings, and prize money earned during that period.

Earlier this year, the sprinter had joined the Enhanced Games — a controversial competition that permits the use of substances prohibited under standard sporting rules. He placed third in the 100 metres at the event’s inaugural edition, held last month in Las Vegas.
