Jamaican Athlete Bramwell Makes Statement with Dominant U17 Boys' 400m Win at Carifta Games 2023

Jamaica’s Nickecoy Bramwell was on a mission to not only win gold in the U17 Boys’ 400m but to do so in style on day one of the 50th Carifta Games in Nassau, Bahamas.

Bramwell ran a lifetime best 47.86 seconds and celebrated by engaging the vociferous home crowd whose energy was directed towards a 1-2 finish for the Bahamian duo – Andrew Brown and Zion Shepherd.

“It was a great race,” said Bramwell, who finished ahead of Jaylen Bennett (SKN) 48.59 and Andrew Brown (BAH) 48.68.

“It’s also a great feeling to silence the Bahamas crowd, said Bramwell.

“There was a lot of talk before the race, so it’s a great feeling to win with a massive PB.”
