BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M freshman track & field standout Sam Whitmarsh will miss the remainder of 2021-22 season after a recent heart disease diagnosis, head coach Pat Henry announced Wednesday.

The nation’s top-ranked freshman in the 800-meter run, Sam Whitmarsh was undeclared for the upcoming NCAA West Preliminary Rounds due to a heart condition. Whitmarsh was coming off a runner-up finish at the recent Southeastern Conference Championships where he registered a time of 1:46.09, which ranks No. 2 nationally and No. 1 in the West Region. Whitmarsh ranks as the fourth fastest Aggie all-time in the outdoor 800m.
