Kingston College (KC) and Edwin Allen stretched their lead entering Friday’s (7 April) penultimate day of the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls Athletics Championships – Champs 2022.

KC holds a 38.7 points lead over Jamaica College (JC), 131 to 92.33. Calabar comes next with 53 points, while St. Jago, 51, and Edwin Allen, 38, rounded off the top five.
On the girls’ side, Edwin Allen enters the day leading Hydel by 40 points, 123 to 83. St. Jago holds onto third with 82, Holmwood 57 and Wolmer’s 36.
St. Jago’s Gregory Price was amongst the standout performers on Thursday’s third day. He broke 46 seconds to take the Class 1 boys’ 400m final in 45.99.

Dejanea Oakley of Clarendon College was also impressive, running a personal best of 51.81 to beat Oneika McAnnuff of Hydel at 52.38
Abigail Campbell of Ferncourt produced her standard late burst to take the Class 2 girls’ 400m final in 53.75 ahead of Natasha Fox of Edwin Allen 54.26.
Marcinho Rose of KC won the Class 2 boys’ 400m final in 48.03 ahead of his teammate Tahj-Marques White 48.39
Troydian Flemmings of Manchester High topped the Class 3 boys’ 400m final in 50.25 ahead of Samuel Creary of JC 51.06. Sabrina Dockery captured Lacovia High’s first gold medal at Champs when she clocked 54.76 seconds to win the Class 3 girls’ 400.
Zachary Campbell of JC took the Class 1 boys’ shot put with a throw of 19.13m. Trevor Gunzell of Edwin Allen High was the Class 1 boys’ discus winner with 61.65m.

Aaliyah Foster of Mount Alvernia High shocked herself. She celebrated wildly after an impressive 6.03m (-1.4m/s wind) to take the victory in the Class 2 girls’ long jump.
The Class 4 girls’ long jump title went to Alexia Williams of St. Jago with 5.36m.
Wolmer’s pair of Shanniqua Williams and Daneille Noble cleared 1.74m for first and second in the Class 4 girls’ high jump.
