Brianna Lyston opened her 2022 season with victory at the Purewater/JC/R. Danny Williams Development Meet on Saturday (8 Jan).

The Jamaica College event saw Brianna Lyston running the fastest in the Class 1 girls’ 100m dash. The Hydel 17-year-old sprinter time of 11.92 (-1.2m/s wind) bettered that of Petersfield High’s Alexis James, 11.93 (-0.3m/s wind).
Oneka Wilson, also of Hydel, ran 12.05 to win her heat for the day’s third-fastest time.
Immaculate’s Mickaila Haisley topped the Class 2 girls’ event in 12.11. She beat Hydel’s Alliah Baker, 12.17 and Asharria Ulett, 12.23.
Jody-Ann Daley of Hydel, 12.22 and Sabrina Dockery of Lacovia, 12.35, were the top two finishers from Class 3.
Natrece East of Wolmer’s won Class 4 in 12.43 over Kedoya Linda of Immaculate, 12.64.
On the boys’ side, Sanjay Salmon, running unattached, won the Class 1 event in 10.68 ahead of Gregory Prince of St. Jago, 10.80 and Deshaun Gordon, 10.90.
Wolmer’s Gary Card was the top performer from Class 2 with 11.07. Ricoy Hunter of STETHS was second best with 11.09.
Nickecoy Bramwell of Calabar was the Class 3 boys’ winner in 11.60.
Kobe Lawrence of Calabar threw 18.66m to win the Class 1 boys’ shot put over Edwin Allen’s Christopher Young, 18.16m.
