Jamaica’s defending sprint double champion, Elaine Thompson-Herah, said she will not get too “excited” as she aims to approach her events round by round.
- Women’s sprints to sizzle
- Track and field schedule of events
- Natoya Goule advances in 800m
- Fedrick Dacres out of Tokyo 2020
- Fraser-Pryce, Thompson-Herah, Jackson cruise in 100m heats
“I am pretty much confident, but as I said, no pressure,” said Thompson-Herah. “I don’t want to be too excited, round by round,” she said will be the approach.
Thompson-Herah impressively booked her semi-final ticket. The Rio 2016 100m and 200m champion opened her account in 10.84, which she made to look very easy.
Her first-round aim, she said, was “get out for the first 30, and control.”
The 10.70 sprinter looks forward to the semi-finals. She will run in the semi-final against Bahamian TyNia Gaither, Blessing Okagbare, Dina Asher-Smith and Jenna Prandini.
